Pomona's Pectin is available in bulk on their website.
1 lb of Pomona pectin will do 32 to 64 batches. (depending on what fruit or juice your use you need 1/2 to 3/4 tsp pectin per cup) Each single batch is 4 cups of prepared fruit or juice. Each 4 cup batch (depending on amount of sweetener added and I use 2 cups sugar to 4 cups of fruit or juice) will make about 4 to 5 jars. (Freezer jams 4 to 6 cups) If you round it all out to say 48 batches of 4 half pints = 192 jars equaling about .25 cents a jar in pectin cost.
Here regular pectin is 3.79 a package and it will make about 8 jars = .47 cents a jar plus you need usually about 7 to 8 cups of sugar. ( the 8 jars being more sugar than fruit)
Pomona also does not expire like regular pectin and also has sugar in it.
to begin with.
